17cҳ receives support for water safety education

17cҳ’s (17cҳ) recently received a donation of life jackets for infants and small children from the Florida Keys Health Start Coalition for use in swim lessons and the Water Safety Days program at the 17cҳ Pool.

17cҳ Academic Info Week features 8 virtual events June 23-26

17cҳ (17cҳ) is holding an Academic Info Week for prospective students to learn about academic and Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities via eight virtual events, to be held June 23-26. The events will showcase information about the credentials (certificates, associate and baccalaureate degrees) available within each program, curriculum, career opportunities, and student experiences. Attendees will hear directly from faculty, academic leaders, current students, and/or recent alumni. 17cҳ will waive the $30 admissions application fee for participants who have not yet applied to the College. Learn about 17cҳ's Renewable Energy, Culinary, and Hospitality programs Virtual events for career training programs on June 25 & 26

17cҳ (17cҳ) invites prospective students to learn about career training opportunities at two upcoming virtual events. A session focusing on the Engineering Technology- Renewable Energy Technician program will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at 5:30 p.m. and a session focusing on the Culinary Management and Hospitality and Ecotourism Management programs will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 5:30 p.m. The events will feature information about the curriculum, career opportunities, and student experiences for each program. Attendees will hear directly from faculty, academic leaders, current students, and/or recent alumni. A code to waive the $30 application fee will be provided. Registration for the events is required. Coldwell Banker Schmitt Charitable Foundation endows AJ Hally Marine Scholarship at 17cҳ

17cҳ (17cҳ) Foundation received $32,500 from the Coldwell Banker Schmitt Charitable Foundation to establish a scholarship in memory of Arcenio John “AJ” Hally. This scholarship supports students who, like Hally, demonstrate a deep appreciation for the ocean, a commitment to environmental stewardship, and a drive to make a meaningful impact in their communities. By endowing the scholarship, a portion of the donation is invested, and its earnings will provide scholarship awards to students in perpetuity—forever memorializing Hally and supporting marine education and training

17cҳ Academy graduates inaugural class

17cҳ celebrated the first graduation of the 17cҳ Academy on May 29 in the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the Key West Campus. The event was a milestone for the College’s tuition-free public charter high school, which opened in August 2023 and subsequently earned an “A” grade from the Department of Education in its first year.

17cҳ honors veterans and military service men and women each Memorial Day and Veterans Day through a “salute” from 17cҳ President and CEO Dr. Jonathan Gueverra.

17cҳ English Professor Dr. Emily Schulten Weekley Receives Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for 2025-2026

Dr. Emily Schulten Weekley, an English professor at 17cҳ, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in Literature and Creative Writing for the 2025-2026 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

17cҳ graduates 115 at 70th Commencement Ceremony

17cҳ held its seventieth Commencement Exercises for the spring class of 2025 on Thursday, May 8 in the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the Key West Campus. One hundred fifteen graduates donned blue and orange graduation attire to receive their respective diplomas for bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, and certificates. Sixteen graduates were Dual Enrollment students, earning Associate in Arts degrees prior to their high school diplomas.

17cҳ scholarships available for fall semester

17cҳ encourages future and current students to apply for scholarships for the fall semester. There are more than 30 different opportunities available and more will be added as they are developed. Criteria for scholarships range widely to accommodate and assist a variety of students. Scholarship descriptions and criteria as well as applications can be accessed on the scholarship section of the College’s website at cfk.academicworks.com.

Tuga Clinic to close for summer

The Tuga Clinic will be closed for the summer beginning May 8 and re-opening on August 4. The re-open will include enhanced services including immunizations and school physicals.
